My Hangover Cure

Finally Friday!!! Thank God. Who doesn't love the weekend? As we all prepare ourselves for a weekend of going out, theres that little whisper in the back of mind reminding us about the awful morning that ensues afterwards. True, true, it doesn't have to but whatever sometimes you don't mean to and it just happens. You wake up hungover. Well life moves on,  but sometimes it feels like it's the end of the world for a couple hours. So in order to push ourselves through a rough morning, I've compiled a list of my hangover tips for when you just can't stay in bed all day (even though that's what I did this morning).

SIP the water, don't chug!!!
This is so key, especially if you're feeling particularly nauseous. I know the feeling of waking up so dehydrated and wanting to grab a cold water and slug it back, but please for your own benefit don't. If you're not already nauseous it will definitely make your stomach turn. But do make sure to drink water, or you'll feel worse for way longer.

Your breakfast plan: Carbs + fats
We all know we crave a good greasy meal after a long night, but the only thing that actually helps us about the meals are the carb loaded potatoes and the fats from the cheese, (and kind of the oil to fry shit). But if you;re feeling like taking a healthier approach, go for avo toast with eggs. Sometimes I ball out and go for a California Benedict breakfast and scarf it down in bed, but when I'm too broke I keep it simple with the aforementioned.

Educate yo self: according to Labdoor magazine, eggs increase our levels of glutathione and alcohol dehydrogenase. These two molecules help break down alcohol. This goes for asparagus too. See I knew my intuition was on the right track!

Try to get outside and move a little at some point
I try to walk to pick up whatever food I need if I go out, or stick my head out the car window if it really comes down to it. I don't know what it is, but getting outside automatically makes me feel better (also why one of my favorite places to be hungover is the beach, that breeze ugh). So if possible, take a walk, even if your friends have to drag you or vice versa, or just eat breakfast on the porch. It'll help I swear!

Supplements
If you're past the point of these easier fixes or have something you really need to do that day, it's time to bring some supplements in to the game. Try the following:
  • Pedialite, a favorite among college students all over the country
  • Vitamin C, just any Emergen-C or anything will do, dump it in your water bottle and boom now you've hit two birds with one stone
  • Now this is like extreme extreme, and I have yet to try it but seems like it would do well. Try this hangover cure connection by Lauryn Evarts. That girl seems to have it together so I trust her considering she said she drinks it every morning she wakes up slightly hungover.
Alright kids, I've done what I can do to help our sorry asses. Now grab a gatorade and get the hell out of bed.

Easy Ways To Change Your Diet for Big Results

Going on a diet is always a daunting task, and not the most effortless. Counting calories and cutting out foods can be exhausting and make it difficult to stay on track, especially when those cravings hit. But there are some simple ways to change your eating habits to lose a couple pounds.

Drink a glass of water before each meal

It will help fill you up and curb the appetite you're feeling from dehydration.

Eat your veggies first

You should eat your plate in this order: veggies, protein, carbs. That way once you get to the fattier stuff you won't be nearly as hungry (a.k.a. fries are last)

Plan ahead

When your left with no food or groceries, you resort to any option available. So planning your meals at least a day in advance will help in the long run.

Order first when eating out

That way even though you're intrigued and mouth watering over your friends picks, you've already chosen your healthy meal. And there's no going back now! ;)

Don't eat out of the bag! Or carton!

You may not notice how much you're eating when you're eating a large portion of ice cream or chips, so put it in a bowl. You'll feel better about yourself after knowing you didn't eat that entire carton of Ben & Jerrys.

Ween yourself off cream and sugar coffee

If you have multiple coffee a day like I do, that also adds a lot of fat and sugar. So start with just cream, or just sugar, you'll get used to it eventually and be disgusted by those extra extra orders.

Eat a hearty breakfast

Your breakfast should consist of carbs, protein, and fats. It gets you off to a good start. (Also part of the Bikini Body Guide)

Go for the spices, not the sauce

Most sauces are high in sugar or salt, spices and herbs give a natural flavor without the extra calories and sugar.

My Favorite Salad

"Salad". The word sometimes makes you cringe, why eat a load of vegetables when you can have a hefty sandwich for lunch? Or a boat load of pasta for dinner? So needless to say I feel obligated to share a good salad when I find one. My recent favorite: Kale Apple Salad

It doesn't have anything too crazy in it which is always nice. It's just a mix of kale and lettuce. The other toppings include walnuts, raisins, goat cheese, and apples... yum?! Alongside it has a honey poppy seed dressing. The dressing can't normally be found in store but I think it would go well with any salad, a recipe for it can be found here. The proportions are about 1/2 cup of "toppings" to every 3 cups of greens. Aside from the goat cheese, which is probably about a 1/4 cup. Hope you love it as much as I do!

Wake-Up Shake

I love smoothies, I feel like they are probably the easiest way to get vegetables in your body without tasting them, as long as you pile on the fruit. Recently I've found one smoothie that really kills the veggie game and the best part is you barely taste it!

Ingredients:

  • 40 grams low fat yogurt
  • 2 cups of any greens of your choice (I use spinach and kale)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of mixed fruit

And blend!! Try to put the yogurt on the bottom and the greens after because it helps things blend better.

Sunday Daze

I love Sundays, they're the epitome of a weekend. I always make sure to make my Sunday as quiet and relaxing as possible. I love having the time to relax as much as possible, so I always make my Sunday routines a bit lengthy.

I normally wake up around 8 or 9, I'm usually an early riser. I lay in bed for a while, check my phone, turn on Netflix, and don't get out of bed until I've finished at last one episode of House.

Then, I always drive to the bakery and get a lemon iced tea or a toasted almond iced coffee (no matter how cold it it may be), and buy a sticky bun also. It may not be healthy but the taste is worth it!

Once I come back with my breakfast, I turn on another episode of either House or Grey's Anatomy on Hulu and think about how I'm going to spend my day.

One of the biggest parts of my Sunday routine is face masks, I always make some organic face masks depending on my skin's stated. Whatever my skin has endured over the week calls for some serious rehab and rejuvenation. Normal problems I experience with my skin is dryness, acne, and dullness. Here's a few to help out your weekly skin problems!

  1.  A great recipe for dryness is the Milk and Honey Mask, for this you'll need just milk and honey, 2 tablespoons of each. Mix the milk and honey together, then spread it across your face with a brush or your fingers and leave it there for 15 minutes. Just wash it off with lukewarm water and pat dry, and then rinse with cold water to close your pores off from any extra dirt. then ta-da!! You're done! It's one of the easiest masks but my skin always feels like its a day old afterwards!
  2. An awesome mask for acne, and those days when it feels like a pimple is emerging every day is the Egg White and Lemon Juice Mask. All you need is the following: 1 egg white, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 1/3 teaspoon of tumeric powder. Whisk the egg in a mixing bowl until it's frothy, then mix in the lemon juice and tumeric. After about 15 minutes, or wen the face mask has dried, use warm water to rinse off the mask, then rinse with cold water to close your pores off from any extra dirt. It'll shrink up your pores in just 15 minutes.
  3. I always make a lip scrub each week, it's not only supper yummy, but makes me lips amazingly soft and makes any lipstick or gloss look 10x better! My favorite recently had been a Pumpkin Pie Lip Scrub, it's tastes amazing and is very seasonal! The ingredients are 1/4 cup of pumpkin pie mix, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (light or dark), and 1 table spoon of olive oil. Make sure you have a jar with a lid to put the scrub in after you've made it. Mix the puree and brown sugar as much as possible so that the sugar mostly dissolves. Then stir in the olive oil and mix until it's smooth! It's really not difficult and it tastes amazing, basically having a pumpkin spice latte on your lips :)!
I always like to do my "self-improvement" routine while watching Law and Order: SVU, it's a guilty pleasure, and season 16 is the best!!

Lastly, I always like to make a treat for the week. This week's treat can be found here, on my most recent post!

What are your Sunday routines? Mine change all the time, so I'm open to any

P.S. I'm starting an all green and clean cleanse, so if anybody has any tips or recipe ideas please comment them below!

Kourtney Kardashian Morning Shake

Kourtney Kardashian recently posted her special Sunday morning shake. She listed the ingredients to be: raspberries, blueberries, pure and fresh whey, manuka honey, chia seeds, flax seeds, and rose water. Of course, to leave us all on the edge of our seats, she did not give the exact recipe :'(.

I did a little experimenting of my own and came up witha pretty good recipe involving each ingredient;

Mix in a blender:

  • 1/2 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon of whey
  • 1 teaspoon of flax seed (careful, some people can be very sensitive to flax)
  • 1 cup of rasberries
  • 1 cup of bluberries
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of melted manuka honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon or less of rosewater
The recipe is still being perfected but once I have it down I'll update this post! :)
